Grown on the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily, the Nerello Mascalese is a highly regarded grape variety which gives Etna Rosso a taut, fresh earthy nuance and excellent minerality. This wine, aptly named “Alta Mora” which means “tall and black” comes from fruits grown on the largest and most active volcano in Europe at 600 to 800 metres above sea level where the soils are rich in volcanic minerals.
The 2014 Alta Mora Etna Rosso excites with an intense cherry red colour and displays a nose that is aromatic with fruit of dark cherries, plums and dried strawberries. On the palate, full-bodied and dense with soft lively tannins lining the palate and gently leads into a long finish. A truly beautiful wine that will make a great icebreaker over dinner!
