In 1997, Christopher Cannan and his wife Charlotte purchased Clos Figueras, an 18 hectares estate, just to the north of the reputed village of Gratallops in the heart of the best production zone of the Priorat DOQ. The soil is the famous “llicorella” or schist that is the secret behind the distinctive mineral flavours that ranks Priorat with the world’s greatest wines. Planted with the local Garnacha and Carinena, with a dose of Syrah, Mourvedre and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wines of Clos Figueras convey all the distinctive charm of the Priorat with great finesse and exceptional elegance.
